Ever notice how every time you see a farmer interviewed on the news he comes off looking like a hillbilly? I always shake my head at how our local news manages to find these duds to interview or speak for the farming community as a whole. I often wonder why the media doesn't seek out the new generation of farm families, the young couples who mix intelligence and innovation with determination and hard work.
Then the other day I stumbled across a video linked by a friend on Facebook. It's the story of Nathan and Meagan, a young farm couple who also happen to be my neighbours. I was pleased to see these two discussing the challenges and joys of country life and providing a fresh example of what it means to be a farmer.
If you have a few minutes, please take the time to watch it.
Check it out here and find the Farm On website here.
Have you ever seen the commercial for the "farmers only" dating website? It's HORRIBLE. The cows are talking about how the female farmer is so lonely and sits at home at night and how bad they feel for her. It's degrading and makes me uncomfortable every time I watch it.
ReplyDeleteOn the flip side, there was that awesome commercial that premiered during the superbowl, did you see it? It was about how awesome farmers are and I think the repeated tag line was something like "then god made the farmer". you should youtube it, it's pretty cool!
That dating website sounds like the kind of thing I would hate too! And yes, I love the commercial 'And God Made a Farmer'. I actually linked it here a few weeks ago. Thanks for reading and for the comment!
